Idaho State Historical Society Show
I will be showing two paintings at the Idaho State Historical Society’s exciting new exhibit: “Mingling Time and Place: Plein Air Painters of Idaho.” The exhibit runs from February 10 through April 28, 2012, and honors Idaho’s historic places and people through art. The theme is: “If art imitates life then history invites art to preserve and record its visual stories.”

My portrait of Wiley Petersen received a top award at this year's Idaho Watercolor Society Annual Show, garnering me Signature Status in the organization. The painting also received the honor of inclusion in the traveling show, which comprises the top 20 paintings selected by the juror. They will be displayed in 4 separate venues around the state for the next year.

Maestro! (Fred Choate)
I've been experimenting with painting portraits in oil, and here is my first effort, friend and fellow artist, Fred Choate. He was very cute about this painting: He said that if he were to ever post a photo on a dating website, this would be the image he'd use!

Unfinished
I started this painting about four years ago after moving to Idaho. I just quit working on it. I remember Iosing interest and not being happy about something. Looking at it today, I see great texture and color, and I'm moved to finish it! This interesting man was shopping at an herbal store's stall at an open market when he caught my (camera's) eye.
