I will be the Artist of the Month at the Eagle Art Gallery for the Month of July. The opening for the show is Thursday, June 30 from 5 - 8:30 pm. A note about casein from Jack Richeson & Co.: Casein (kay'seen) is a quick-drying, aqueous medium using a milk-based binding agent, and is one of the most durable mediums known to man. Nine thousand year old casein cave paintings have been discovered in Asia, and later, the medium was used by Byzantine, Roman and Renaissance artists including the Old Masters. Known for their versatility and array of capabilities, casein paints can be used to create a variety of effects from the rich opaques of oil to thin watercolor washes.

Red Rock Ride II

This is a companion piece to Red Rock Ride I. Red Rock Ride II was recently juried into the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies' Annual Show to be held this year in Scottsdale, Arizona, at the Fountain Hills Community Center for the month of April. This is a tremendous honor. During the first week of the show we will learn which paintings the Juror Cheng-Khee Chee has selected for awards.

Red Rock Ride Purchased by Idaho Power Company

Red Rock Ride was purchased by Idaho Power Company for their corporate collection. The announcement was made by Steve Taylor from Idaho Power at the Awards Program for the Idaho Watercolor Society's Annual Show on June 14.

This kingfisher comes courtesy of my friend and wildlife photographer Scott Frye. We both agree about how elusive these birds are, only he had the tenacity to capture one on film before it managed to fly off. You can see in the bird's eye that he knew that this time, he didn't get away! Gouache, 20 x 24.
